The Lives of the Extremely Poor Wawan Caswan Need to Be Saved for the Sake of Humanitarian Missions

Kuningan, Konntroversinews | Wawan Caswan, an extreme poor resident from Kawungsari Village, Cibeureum District, Kuningan Regency, suffered a sad fate, who suffered from a stomach tumor. The condition now requires serious attention and handling from the Kuningan Regional Government (Pemda).

A resident of Kawungsari Village who did not want to be named revealed that Wawan was an extreme poor resident who was battling a serious illness.

“The regional government has indeed helped. From Baznas they provided assistance of IDR 500,000, from the Social Welfare department IDR 3,000,000, and the Regent has ordered the community health center to follow up. Through the village midwife, Wawan was then referred to Mitra Plumbon Hospital for diagnosis. However, the results of the examination showed that he had to be referred to a hospital in Bandung,” he said, Wednesday (8/10/2025), at the FKGOL Secretariat.

However, he continued, the main obstacles for Wawan’s family were transportation costs, food during treatment, and the living needs of the family left behind.

“That is a heavy burden for Pak Wawan’s family,” he added.

This condition is a real portrait of how poverty and serious illness are a double burden for underprivileged people. Even though you have BPJS insurance, living expenses during treatment remain a big challenge.

Responding to this, the Chairman of the FKGOL Mass Organization, U. Kastaman, S.Sos, spoke.

“Extreme poor people like Pak Wawan who suffer from this serious illness deserve special attention from the Kuningan Regional Government. We hope that policy makers, both executive and legislative, really care and are alert in carrying out humanitarian missions. Their lives must be saved,” he stressed.

Kastaman also invited benefactors to be moved to help.

“We at FKGOL will immediately raise funds to help Mr. Wawan Caswan. We hope that the Muslim aghniya will be touched to see the suffering of our brothers who are experiencing economic difficulties and suffering from serious illnesses,” he said.

He added that the condition of extreme poor people like Wawan is truly ironic and terrible, because in the midst of modern progress, there are still people who live in severe economic difficulties and suffer from deadly diseases.

“His stomach was enlarged like a hungry stomach. This should be a serious concern for all parties,” he concluded. ***
