PT Vale IGP Pomalaa Holds Environmental Campaign in Tanggetada, Invites Residents to Turn Waste into Opportunities

KOLAKA, WN—PT Vale Indonesia, Tbk (PT Vale) Industry Growth Project (IGP) Pomalaa is holding an environmental campaign in Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), inviting the community to turn waste into opportunities for economic income.

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk through the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Pomalaa held an environmental campaign in Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency, on Thursday (6/2/2026). This activity was carried out in the Tanggetada Subdistrict Office Hall and was attended by local residents as part of efforts to encourage awareness of waste management and environmental preservation.

The event was officially opened by the Head of Tanggetada Subdistrict, Muslyadin, who in his speech appreciated PT Vale’s initiative in supporting the subdistrict government’s efforts to create a clean and healthy environment through community participation.

This campaign features environmental activists from the Nampah (Trash Savings) community who provide education to participants regarding waste management, starting from sorting household waste to processing plastic waste into products that are useful and have economic value.

Campaign participants seemed enthusiastic about taking part in educational sessions which opened up their minds that waste, especially plastic, can be a source of income if managed creatively and sustainably.

Representative of the IGP Pomalaa External Relations Department, Charles Christian, as Senior Community Development Coordinator, emphasized that this activity is part of PT Vale’s commitment to grow and develop together with the surrounding community.

“We want to encourage a change in people’s mindset that waste is not only an environmental problem, but also an opportunity. With the right knowledge, waste can be processed into valuable products and open up new economic opportunities for residents,” said Charles.

He added that PT Vale is committed to continuing to present empowerment programs that have a real impact on communities around the company’s operational areas.

“IGP Pomalaa is not only focused on project development, but also on how our presence can provide long-term benefits for society and the environment,” he added.

Through this campaign, PT Vale IGP Pomalaa hopes to raise the collective awareness of Tanggetada District residents to care more about waste management and preserving the environment as part of sustainable development.

To conclude the activity, PT Vale also handed over segregated waste bins that had been labeled according to the type of waste category for use at the Tanggetada District Office, as a real form of support for better waste management practices.(**)
