Have you heard the news about several series of Realme smartphones that have been retired from the market? Yep, the decision to stop production of a product is a natural thing in the world of technology, including smartphones.
Realme, as one of the big players in the smartphone market, is also taking this step. Discontinuing a product doesn’t mean failure, you know!
In fact, this is part of a mature strategy to simplify its product range, so that each series has a clearer identity and can focus on a more precise target market.
From realme 3 Pro to series X, there are some models are no longer produced. But, why did they decide to retire? Come on, let’s discuss in more depth the reasons behind this decision and which series have officially retired!
Retired Realme Smartphone Series
In the end, every device has a lifespan. Likewise with smartphones, which are usually discontinued after a few years.
Likewise with a number of Realme smartphone series which are no longer produced.
This does not mean their products are failures, but rather a strategic decision to make room for newer products that are more sophisticated and more in line with current market trends.
Realme itself is known for its fast steps in presenting innovation. However, as technology developed, they decided to focus on superior product lines.
So, several series that had become favorites had to be retired. So, let’s look at the Realme series that have been “retired” one by one and why this might happen.
realme 3 pro
One series that is familiar to many people is the realme 3 Pro. Introduced in May 2019, this smartphone has high performance at a more affordable price.
It is also equipped with a Snapdragon 710 chipset, 16 MP + 5 MP camera, and a modern design. However, even though sales were quite good in Indonesia, realme finally decided to stop production of this series.
This decision has apparently been carefully considered by Realme, which applies the “end of life” (EOL) principle to its products. This means that every realme product, including the 3 Pro, is planned to stop production at a certain time.
realme 3

Not much different from the 3 Pro, the realme 3 also ended up on the market. Released several months earlier in March 2019, realme 3 has interesting specifications in its class.
With a 6.22 inch screen and MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, it is an affordable cellphone but still adequate in terms of performance and photography.
However, after the realme 3 Pro arrived with a higher upgrade, the existence of the realme 3 started to feel redundant. However, realme still provides after-sales support for loyal users, so if you are still using realme 3, don’t worry!
realme X series

The realme
This series was quite interesting because it looked different from other smartphones at that time. Realme X is considered a flagship experiment at a more affordable price.
However, not long after that, realme chose to discontinue this series and focus on the realme GT as the successor to their flagship line.
realme 5 series

Who doesn’t know realme 5? In September 2019, realme 5 was introduced as the first cellphone with a quad camera configuration to appear on the Indonesian market.
With a 12 MP main camera and 5,000mAh battery life, the realme 5 immediately became the target of many people, especially those who want a cellphone with good performance in the mid-range segment.
However, even though the realme 5 was quite popular, not long after, realme launched its successor, namely the realme 5i. With improvements in the design sector and a more affordable price, the realme 5i didn’t last long.
Realme chose to stop production of these two models and make room for new products that are more competitive in the market.
Realme C Series Early Generation

No less important, the C series from Realme also experienced production discontinuation in 2020. Starting with the Realme C1, C2, and C3, this line had become a favorite for consumers who were looking for a cellphone at an affordable price but still had good battery life.
The C series is designed for users who are looking for a functional smartphone at a pocket-friendly price.
However, to keep up with developments in trends and technology, realme finally decided to stop production of these old models and replace them with the C11, C12, and C15 series which offer a fresher design and various improved features.
Conclusion
Realme’s decision to discontinue several old series is not without reason. This is a strategic step to keep their superior products the best choice on the market.
By focusing on series that are better and relevant to current consumer needs, Realme can provide a better experience and continue to grow in the smartphone market.
