KOLAKA, WN—-As part of a joint commitment to empower local workers and entrepreneurs, PT Vale Indonesia, Tbk (PT Vale) and the Kolaka Regency Government, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) have socialized a Memorandum of Understanding. Memorandum of Understanding as part of the commitment to encourage inclusive and sustainable national economic growth.
PT Vale as part of the Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) Holding BUMN Mining group, together with the Kolaka Regional Government carried out the socialization of a memorandum of understanding regarding the empowerment of local workers and entrepreneurs which was held at the Sutan Raja Kolaka hotel on (4/11/2025). This activity was attended by Forkopimda Kolaka officials, as well as 39 PT Vale contractor partners consisting of 15 national contractors and 24 local contractors. This was conveyed by the Head of Corporate Communications of PT Vale, Tbk Vanda Kusumaningrum in his statement to journalists.

Through this MoU, PT Vale confirms its commitment to play an active role in strengthening the capacity of local communities, both as workers and business actors in the company’s operational areas, especially in the Pomalaa Block.
“The Memorandum of Understanding that is being socialized is not just a formal document, but a symbol of shared determination to make Kolaka more advanced and competitive,” said Mohammad Rifai, Head of Pomalaa Project PT Vale Indonesia.
“This commitment has been in place even before the signing of the MoU, and has become a strong foundation for optimizing the role of local workers and entrepreneurs in our projects.”
Meanwhile, Kolaka Regent H. Amri SSTP, M.Si expressed his appreciation for PT Vale’s steps in drafting an MoU that takes into account local wisdom and social justice, especially in labor recruitment patterns.
“Local workers must be given wider opportunities. If the quota has not been met, there must be a second wave specifically for the Kolaka community. We don’t want the community to just be spectators in this large investment,” he stressed.
Regent Amri also emphasized the importance of fulfilling workers’ rights, such as membership in BPJS Employment and transparency in the use of foreign workers. The Regional Government, he continued, is ready to support fair and sustainable investment through simplifying the licensing process and cross-institutional coordination.
This synergy between PT Vale and the Kolaka Regency Government is a concrete step in bringing regional development that is balanced between economic growth, social justice and environmental sustainability.
This MoU is expected to be a long-term foundation for strengthening the mining industry ecosystem in Kolaka, as well as strengthening the contribution of the mining sector to the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 through increasing the capacity of human resources and local entrepreneurs. (**)
